อุโมงค์หินทรายเกิดขึ้นโดยธรรมชาติหลายล้านปีที่แล้ว มีขนาด กว้าง 3 เมตร สูง 5 เมตร ยาว 10 เมตร วางตัวในแนวทิศตะวันออกและทิศตะวันตก ที่มุมกวาด 90 – 270 องศา ทำให้มองเห็นดวงอาทิตย์ขึ้นและตกตรงกับกึ่งกลางประตูในปรากฏการณ์วิษุวัต (Equinox) กลางวันยาวเท่ากับกลางคืน ปีละ 2 ครั้ง กล่าวคือ “วสันตวิษุวัต” (Vernal Equinox) 20 – 22 มีนาคม “ศารทวิษุวัต” (Autumnal Equinox) 22 – 24 กันยายน
The Gate of Time
Located at Phu Pha Kham, this sandstone tunnel measuring 3 meters in width, 5 meters in height, and 10 meters in length is aligned precisely with an east-west direction (azimuth of 90 – 270 degrees). This alignment allows the rising and setting sun to appear exactly in the center of the gateway during the Equinox a phenomenon where day and night are of equal length occurring twice a year: the Vernal Equinox (March 20–22) and the Autumnal Equinox (September 22–24).

A review of Google’s records confirms the existence of a massive, 100% naturally formed sandstone tunnel aligned with the sunrise and sunset at the center of its opening occurring on the same days as the equinoxes twice a year. Currently, the only known site of this kind is the "Gate of Time" at Phu Pha Kham in Khok Si Suphan District, Sakon Nakhon Province, Thailand.
